EWEB Communications Team Wins Top Awards at Northwest Innovations in Communications Conference

The EWEB Communications team was honored at the prestigious 2024 Northwest Public Power Association's (NWPPA) Northwest Innovations in Communications Conference. Competing against public utilities from across the region, EWEB brought home two significant awards in recognition of our work to engage and inform the community.

We received 1st place for Excellence in Communications for our Pledge to Prepare program, which highlights EWEB’s commitment to emergency preparedness and community resilience.

Customers who sign up for the Pledge to Prepare receive a monthly e-newsletter with step-by-step recommendations that, when followed, will have their home and family “two weeks ready” for an emergency. The EWEB communications team also gives presentations as part of the program to educate the community about emergency preparedness and prompt community action.

In addition to this honor, our team also earned 3rd place in the video category for our video “The Value of Electricity” which prompts customers to think differently about how much they rely on electricity every day, and what they get for their dollars. For the video series, EWEB’s communication team recruited coworkers from across the utility to portray a family of customers performing daily activities such as turning on lights, adjusting the thermostat, cooking, running laundry, and watching TV. An on-screen counter tracks the cost of powering these devices throughout the day, helping customers make a mental connection between their behaviors—like turning up the heat or taking a hot shower—and the utility bill they receive at the end of the month.

We are proud of our Communications team’s accomplishments and look forward to continuing our mission to serve the Eugene community through clear, engaging, and meaningful communications.

Thank you to NWPPA for the recognition and to our community for participating in the Pledge to Prepare campaign. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient Eugene!
