Join the Pledge to Prepare and get answers to the most common questions

September 02, 2025 Ashley Cissna, EWEB Communications

When you think about being ready for an emergency, you probably wonder:

  • How much emergency water do I need, and how do I store it and ensure it's safe to drink?
  • What kind of food should I include in my emergency kit?
  • How can I ensure my important household and financial records are secure and accessible?
  • What should I do if someone in my household has special needs?

EWEB's Pledge to Prepare walks you through these questions and more, with practical, easy-to-follow guidance.

How the program works

Joining is simple: just click the link and provide your contact information. Starting in January you'll receive a monthly email with a short checklist of actions for the month.

  • Do as many of the activities as you can - remember, a little is better than nothing!
  • Each month builds on the last, so by the end of the year, you'll be ready for a two-week emergency.
  • As an added incentive, when you send us a photo of your monthly progress, you'll be entered into a monthly raffle drawing for useful emergency supplies.

Hear from past participants

"The monthly prompts from EWEB helped us focus on one area each month; a task small enough to be doable and practical. Several components of preparedness were particularly important for us: making copies of all our important documents, setting aside a supply of cash, and gathering practical tools. Although I am sure that in an emergency there would be other things we might wish we had done, we know we have the basic knowledge and supplies to survive and help others too." - EWEB Customer Becky

"Pledge to Prepare made the daunting task of emergency preparedness manageable by breaking it down into bite-sized monthly tasks. This approach significantly reduced the stress of purchasing necessary items and allowed for strategic, step-by-step planning throughout the year. It was both practical and engaging, making the process rewarding in more ways than one!" - EWEB Customer Andrea
