Summer 2025 - EWEB engineers will be at work upgrading the Danebo Substation in Northwest Eugene
This substation serves electricity to approximately 6,000 customers.
Project Details
Construction Timeline:
EWEB will begin construction on the substation in June, with work continuing through the summer of 2025.
Project Design:
This project will include replacing and upgrading the substation’s transformer to improve electric reliability and increase energy capacity to support Eugene’s electrification growth.
Construction Mitigation:
EWEB will complete all construction within approved municipal work hours. Methods will be used to minimize noise, dust, and emissions throughout construction. Additionally, you may experience road congestion due to more than normal construction vehicles on residential roads near the project area.
Replacing Aging Infrastructure:
The Danebo Substation was first constructed in 1965 during an infrastructure boom when Eugene rapidly expanded. EWEB plans to address this aging infrastructure bubble with 10 major substation rebuilds in the next 10 years. The Danebo upgrade will ensure that customers continue to receive reliable electricity while other substations in EWEB’s grid undergo a complete rebuild.
