Employee Benefits

Paid Time Off

Holidays: EWEB offers 11 paid observed holidays and 24 hours of flexible leave that employees may take any time during the calendar year.  

Sick leave: All employees accrue 96 hours of sick leave annually or 3.69 hours bi-weekly; no maximum accrual or rollover.

Vacation: Full time individual contributor employees begin accruing 13 days (4 hours bi-weekly) per year of vacation (pro-rated for part-time employees). Accruals increase by 4 hours per year up to 25 years.

Management employees receive the following vacation accrual rates at the time of hire: 

  • Supervisors - 16 days per year (4.92 hours bi-weekly)
  • Managers - 17.5 days per year (5.38 hours bi-weekly)
  • Executives - 20 days per year (6.15 hours biweekly)

Management employees’ vacation accruals are frozen until they reach the applicable years of service for an accrual increase.




Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage

EWEB offers medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage to employees and their eligible dependents. EWEB covers 95 percent of the employee only premium and 75 percent of two-party and family coverage. Medical insurance includes a deductible of $150 per individual and $300 per family, with an out-of-pocket limit of $2,000 per individual and $4,000 per family. The plan includes $15 copays for office visits and free TelaDoc visits.




Health Reimbursement and Flexible Spending Accounts


Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Flexible spending is an IRS governed program that allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible medical and dependent care expenses.

Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)/Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA)
VEBA is a tax-free way to save for future qualified health expenses. There are multiple ways for employees to contribute to their VEBA accounts. VEBA contributions are pre-tax, and the funds roll over from year to year.

IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) union employees receive an additional $3000 contribution every year by the Utility.




Well-being and Fitness


Employee Well-being Program
Employees have the opportunity to earn up-to $1,000 deposited into their VEBA account each year by participating in the WellWorks For You program.

Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program offers four free confidential counseling services for employees, their immediate family, and members of their household.

Life and Disability Benefits


Life Insurance
EWEB pays for employee life insurance of 2.5x the employee’s annual salary, including Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and limited coverage for dependents.

Disability Insurance
EWEB pays the full premium for Short- and Long-Term Disability coverage.

Paid Leave Oregon Contribution
EWEB pays the full one percent payroll tax.




Retirement Benefits


Oregon PERS
EWEB participates in the Oregon PERS pension program and contributes 6 percent of employee wages to the Individual Account Program (IAP) and the Pension Stabilization Fund.

Deferred Compensation 457 Plan
EWEB offers a Deferred Compensation plan that allows employees to save pre-tax money for retirement savings. A Roth option is also available.




Optional Benefits


Employees may purchase supplemental benefit plans that are designed to protect their family’s financial health. The following plans are offered through The Standard and are paid by the employee through a payroll deduction.
