The Voltek design allows for the new infrastructure to be built inside of the existing aging vault. We’re able to install the new vault while the cables are still energized, minimizing disruption to customers and traffic while cutting construction time in half.

EWEB is excited to offer an additional financial incentive to make energy-efficient home upgrades more accessible for customers.
In March, EWEB was awarded $250,000 in funding from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) to be distributed as a supplement to customers applying for energy efficiency rebates. This limited-time program is aimed at EWEB customers who are interested in improving their home’s energy efficiency with updated products and systems but may struggle to implement these improvements due to financial limitations. The additional supplement will enable qualifying customers to double the standard EWEB rebate on ducted heat pumps, ductless heat pumps, and insulation.
To qualify for the additional supplement, applicants must be current EWEB residential electric customers with a combined household income between 60%-120% of the Oregon Gross Median Income. For example, a family of four with a combined annual income between $64,282 and $128,546 will qualify.
Energy efficiency rebates are part of EWEB’s Live Green program. Live Green helps utility customers reduce their monthly bills, improve home comfort, and lower their carbon footprint. By offering rebates and loans to customers, EWEB helps offset the upfront costs of upgrading older inefficient systems.
According to the Department of Energy, the average American home spends about $2,000 annually on their energy bill, and over 50% goes to heating and cooling costs. Homes with poor insulation or outdated heating/cooling systems could be wasting up to 20% of their bill on lost energy.
The costs of materials and labor for energy-efficient products have increased in recent years, making it difficult for some households to invest in these necessary improvements.
"We understand that investing in energy-efficient upgrades can be a significant financial decision,” says Anna Wade, Customer Solutions Manager at EWEB. “This limited-time supplement aims to reduce that barrier and help customers make choices that benefit their wallets and the environment.”
EWEB is offering the supplemental incentive for the following rebates:
Product | Standard Rebate | Total with Energy Efficiency Supplement |
---|---|---|
Ductless Heat Pump | $800 | $1,600 |
Ducted Heat Pump | $1,000 | $2,000 |
Insulation | $1/sq ft of insulation | $2/sq ft of insulation |
EWEB will continue to offer enhanced rebate opportunities for customers who earn below 60% of the Oregon Median Income through the utility’s income-based assistance programs.
The new supplement is only available for projects that are completed by August 31, 2024, or until funds run out, whichever happens first.
