June 14, 2012 Water main replacement project starts Sunday nightThe Eugene Water & Electric Board will begin a project to replace an old water main at the intersection of Coburg and Willakenzie roads starting at 7 p.m. Sunday. The overnight work will be conducted from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. through Wednesday morning. EWEB scheduled the work at night to minimize traffic disruptions. During the work, the traffic signals at the Coburg-Willakenzie intersection will be turned off. Flaggers will control traffic. On Thursday, June 21, westbound Willakenzie traffic at Coburg will be reduced to one lane from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. while crews replace traffic loops. This is the first phase of a project that will replace about a half mile of old water main running under Willakenzie. EWEB crews will begin the second phase later this summer. EWEB is in the fifth year of a major capital improvement program to replace aging infrastructure such as water mains and distribution lines. See EWEB's construction project updates -- end -- |
