EWEB to close Eighth Avenue on Sunday

Eugene Water & Electric Board constructions crews will close East Eighth Avenue between High and Pearl streets on Sunday morning beginning at 7 a.m. as part of an ongoing project to replace a water main.

The closure of the section of Eighth Avenue between High and Pearl is expected to last until about 5 p.m. Sunday. Motorists and cyclists should use alternate routes.

The existing 16-inch diameter water main was installed in the 1930s and has outlived its expected lifespan. EWEB is replacing the pipe ahead of a city of Eugene resurfacing project planned for this summer on Pearl.
