June 1, 2011 EWEB to draw down Walterville Canal for repairsThe Eugene Water & Electric Board will begin dewatering the Walterville Power Canal early Friday morning, June 10, to clean and make repairs to the Walterville fish screen as well as to inspect the canal and make any necessary repairs. The 13-day shutdown, timed to occur during the height of upstream salmon migration, means very little water will be diverted from the river into the canal. During the outage, crews will also complete maintenance and repairs in the Walterville Powerhouse. Starting around June 23, EWEB generation personnel will begin ramping up the water level in the canal. Re-watering operations will take a few days.
