Commissioners to hold hearings on 2010 budget

The Eugene Water & Electric Board of Commissioners will conduct two public hearings in November and December to gather citizen comments about the utility’s proposed 2010 budget.

The first hearing will be held during the Board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17, which begins at 7:15 p.m. in the Board Room of the North Building at EWEB, 500 E. Fourth Ave. The second public hearing will be held on Dec. 1.

EWEB staff is proposing combined electric, water and steam utility budget of $333 million for 2010. The budget is based on an assumption that electric rates will increase by approximately 2 percent in 2010, and that water rates will rise by approximately 7 percent next year. The electric and water rate increases will be subject to separate public hearings in the spring of 2009.
