Second annual Run to Stay Warm to be held Saturday

Eugene Water & Electric Board’s “Run to Stay Warm,” a fundraiser for the utility’s limited-income assistance program, will be held Saturday morning, Nov. 22.

Proceeds from the event, which includes half-marathon, 10K, 5K and kid’s 400-meter dash races, will help income-eligible customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bills. EWEB’s Customer Care Program helps more than 7,000 households each year.

The events start at 9 a.m. at EWEB’s River Edge Plaza, 500 E. Fourth Ave. Last year’s successful inaugural event attracted more than 700 runners and walkers, generating nearly $11,000 in donations for the bill-assistance program.

Since 1986, the Customer Care program has provided financial aid for qualifying limited-income customers. Customers-in-need may be eligible to receive up to $200 in bill assistance per year, which is credited directly to their EWEB account. Eligibility is determined by income and household size.
