Nov. 17, 2008 Commissioners to hold hearings on 2009 budgetThe Eugene Water & Electric Board of Commissioners will conduct two public hearings in November and December to gather citizen comments about the utility’s proposed 2009 budget. The first hearing will be held during the Board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the North Building at EWEB, 500 E. Fourth Ave. The second public hearing will be held at the same location on Dec. 2. EWEB staff is proposing combined electric, water and steam utility budget of $327 million for 2009. The budget is based on an assumption that water rates will increase next year, by about $3.90 per month for the average residential customer. However, the budget does not assume a need to increase electric rates the spring of 2009. The water rate increase will be subject to separate public hearings in the spring of 2009. A copy of the proposed 2009 budget can be found on EWEB's website.
