Sandra Bishop elected EWEB board president for 2006

Eugene Water & Electric Board commissioners have elected Sandra Bishop to serve as the board's president for 2006.

Commissioner Mel Menegat was elected to serve as the board's vice president. Both were elected at the board's regular meeting on Jan. 3.

Bishop, who owns her own communications company and specializes in government relations, was first elected to the EWEB board in 1996 to represent Wards 6 and 7. She was re-elected in 2000 and then was elected to the at-large position in 2002.

Menegat, a retired state of Oregon administrative law judge, was appointed to the board in 2003 to represent Wards 6 and 7, and was elected to the position in 2004.

The board generally rotates the job of president and vice president every year or two. Commissioner Ron Farmer served as board president in 2005. The president's primary duties are to preside over board meetings, set the agenda in consultation with the General Manager, and represent EWEB at various functions and events.
