Crews restore power to most customers hit by windstorm

About 250 Eugene Water & Electric Board customers remained without power Friday morning following the severe windstorm that swept through Oregon on Thursday (Dec. 14).

Several EWEB crews worked through the night to restore power to nearly 5,000 customers who lost power Thursday evening when the windstorm resulted in wind gusts of up to 44 miles per hour in the Eugene-Springfield area.

Only about 250 customers remained without power as of 6 a.m. Most of those customers were in the Vida and Walterville areas of the lower McKenzie River Valley.

EWEB warns the public to stay away from downed power lines, as they can still be energized. Customers who lose power should call EWEB’s automated outage management hotline at 484-2300.
