Students to plant trees for Arbor Day at Chávez Elementary SchoolEugene Water & Electric Board and students at the new César E. Chávez Elementary School will host a tree planting ceremony from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 in honor of Arbor Day. The school is located at 1510 West 14 th Avenue in Eugene. The goals of the event are to celebrate Arbor Day, promote power line safety and emphasize planting the “right tree in the right place,” according to EWEB Arborist Ron Dyer. “This activity is an opportunity to celebrate trees in our community and our environment,” says Dyer. More than 200 students will help with the planting of dogwood and white oak trees from 12 noon-1:45 p.m., followed by a short recognition ceremony.
