Resource plan examines 'Our Energy Future'

The Eugene Water & Electric Board is soliciting citizen applications to serve on a special working group to help guide decisions about what electric energy resources EWEB needs for its customers.

EWEB's elected commissioners are scheduled to adopt the update of the Integrated Electric Resource Plan in mid-2004. The current plan was adopted in late 1999.

A special page has been established on EWEB's web site (www.eweb.org) for interested citizens to learn more about the resource plan update and to apply to become a member of the Working Group (click on the "Our Energy Future" link on the home page). The group will start meeting in October and make recommendations to Commissioners by March 2004.

The update of the plan will evaluate different electric resource portfolios; determine how much electricity EWEB should buy from the federal Bonneville Power Administration; analyze the risk of uncertain forces, such as global warming, on various electric resources; and examine other energy resource issues.
