CALL FOR WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS ABOUT WILLAMETTE RIVER WATERSHED Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is sponsoring the creation of an anthology of student writing that focuses on the relationship between people and the Willamette River Basin. The anthology is called "Honoring Our River" and submissions are being requested from students of all ages -- from kindergarten through college. The creation of this book is being done in partnership with Governor John Kitzhaber's Willamette Restoration Initiative. Fiction, essays and poetry may be submitted for consideration. While the Willamette River and its ecosystem should be central to the work, a historical, scientific, philosophical or artistic approach to the topic is encouraged. Black and white photos or drawings may be submitted with written works. They will be selected for their ability to support the written work chosen for the anthology. Those writers whose work is published in "Honoring Our River" will be given a copy of the anthology. All schools that participate can send for a free Watershed Toolkit and a copy of the book. Entries must be sent no later than May 21 to: Willamette Restoration Initiative, 775 Summer Street NE, Salem, OR 97310. For more information or an application form call (503) 986-0196 or visit http://cyberschool.4j.lane.edu/ttr/river/river.html.
