Board Members Present: Patrick Lanning, Ron Farmer, Sandra Bishop, and Dorothy Anderson.

Others Present: Randy Berggren and Krista Hince of the EWEB staff.

President Lanning called the Special Board Meeting of the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) order at 12:00 noon.

BOARD INTERVIEWS

The Commissioners interviewed the following individuals for the existing Commissioner vacancy: Melvin Menegat, John Simpson, and Charles Fee. Each individual was asked the following questions:

1. As you know, EWEB is a public utility, owned by the citizens of Eugene. In your mind, what is the value of a public utility to its community?

2. What do you see as the main function of the EWEB Board of Commissioners and your role as an EWEB Commissioner?

3. What do you see as the role of the EWEB General Manager?

4. What do you think are the two most important utility issues facing EWEB?

5. What is your vision for the future of EWEB, in terms of issues the utility should be addressing?

6. How would you address the budget challenge facing EWEB today?

7. What is your experience working with large commercial or public entity budgets?

8. What level of time commitment can you make in order to serve on the EWEB Board?

9. What is the one quality that will distinguish you for this position?

DISCUSSION/APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER FOR WARDS 6 & 7 POSITION

The Commissioners briefly discussed the interviews and the merits of each candidate and agreed to take final action on the appointment on July 31 at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
