BUSINESS SERVICE AGREEMENTS
  1. Ederer Service Incorporated - Leaburg/Walterville Powerhouse Crane Improvements - Facilities Services Division. This amendment is for $5,604.22. Board action is required because this amendment increases the total contract price beyond the $100,000 threshold for Board action. The revised total is $105,139.22. During the course of refurbishing the Walterville Powerhouse crane, additional needed work was discovered. The crane's hoist cable needed to be replaced. The price was $4,123 for labor and materials. The crane's hoist gear case needed a new shaft seal for $641.81. The lubrication oil in the gear case also needed replacement for $669.41. For another $170, the contract stripped the paint off the hoist hook for non-destructive testing. Contract person is Marc Andersen, 484-2411, ext. 3255.

  2. CH2M-Hill - EWEB Water System Security Assessment - Water Division. As mandated by the USEPA and due on December 31, 2002, EWEB water must conduct a water system security assessment in accordance with EPA guidelines. This security assessment will review and analyze all EWEB water facilities. Results and recommendations of the assessment will be implemented into the Water Division's 5-year capital plan and emergency operations plan. EPA has provided a $115,000 grant in order to perform the assessment. Contact is Mel Damewood, Water Engineering Manager, 341-1878 or E-Mail Mel Damewood

  3. VATech - Trail Bridge Hydroelectric Unit - (Emergency) Turbine Bearing Replacement and Unit Alignment - Electric Division. The Turbine Bearing on the Trail Bridge Hydroelectric Generating Unit failed. During removal it was discovered the root cause of failure of the bearing was misalignment of the unit. Alignment of vertical shaft hydroelectric units is a specialized and complex process requiring experienced and skilled personnel. Current value of power if $27/MegaWatt; value of Trail Bridge production at that price is $6,480/day. Given that value, work has already been authorized to return Trail Bridge to service. VATech, contractor for the Leaburg-Walterville turbine-generator overhauls, had personnel in the area to respond immediately to the trail Bridge job, and were hired. The unit is expected to be back in service by June 1, 2002. Cost requested is $50,000. Contact person is Jay L'Estrange, 484-2411, 3415.

  4. Environmental Solutions - Leaburg/Walterville Relicensing - Environmental Services - Corporate Services. Environmental Solutions is providing support to EWEB for our relicensing efforts, specifically, conducting wetlands delineations, developing mitigation plans, reviewing 404 fill and removal permit applications, and preparing pre- and post-construction wetlands monitoring plans. Additional work will be required to assess wetlands impacts due to the planned Leaburg Lake raise and Leaburg tailrace excavation. Cost is $20,000. Contract person is Laurie Power, 484-2411, ext. 3313.
