June 6, 2008 Public invited to learn about Roosevelt Operations CenterResidents of the Bethel-Danebo area, as well as any other members of the public, are invited to a community meeting on Tuesday, June 10, to learn about the Eugene Water & Electric Board’s new Roosevelt Operations Center. The meeting at Petersen Barn Community Center, 870 Berntzen Road, begins at 6:30 p.m. with an informal “open house” to view drawings of the project, followed by a short presentation at 7 p.m. There will be ample time at the meeting for the public to ask questions and share comments or concerns. Construction of the new operations center is expected to begin this summer on 52 acres at the southeast corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Beltline Road. The new facility will include an electric and water operations building, a warehouse, vehicle shops and a storage yard. The utility’s administrative headquarters will remain at the current site along the Willamette River near downtown Eugene. At the June 10 meeting, project staff will update the neighborhood on the construction schedule; outline plans to address construction impacts, such as traffic control measures; and review wetlands enhancements and sustainability features of the project.
