Jan. 15 , 2008 Public invited to learn about new operations centerThe public can learn more about the Eugene Water & Electric Board’s plans to construct a new electric and water operations facility in west Eugene by attending an informational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17. The informal, “drop-in” session will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Training Center of the utility’s North Building, 500 E. Fourth Ave. During this two-hour session, citizens and customers can ask EWEB staff and PIVOT architects questions about the new Roosevelt Operations Center and can view preliminary drawings of the proposed facility. Staff also will make a short presentation at 6 p.m. EWEB plans to break ground this summer on the new facility at Roosevelt Boulevard and Beltline Road, which will house the utility’s electric and water field operations, engineering, warehouse, vehicle shops and storage yard. The administrative staff and customer service employees will remain in the existing headquarters building near the Willamette River in downtown Eugene. EWEB expects to complete the new Roosevelt Operations Center by late 2010. An $83.5 million budget has been established for the facility.
