Frequently asked questions about your service
On this page and in other portions of this web site, you can learn more about your electric and water service from the Eugene Water & Electric Board. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about your service:
How can I speak with a customer service representative?
Call (541) 484-6016 during regular business hours.
How can I find out more about my electric and water rates?
Go to the rates section of our web site. There, you will find information about any recent rate actions or hearings, an electronic copy of the rates brochure, and other useful information.
Where does EWEB get its electricity?
About 20 percent of EWEB’s electricity is generated at several EWEB-owned hydroelectric projects and cogeneration projects. About 70 to 75 percent of Eugene’s electricity is purchased from the federal Bonneville Power Administration, while other sources make up the remainder.
What should I do if the power goes out?
Check your electrical panel for tripped breakers or blown fuses. Reset breakers by switching them off and then on. Some homes, including mobile and manufactured homes, also have a master breaker panel outside by the electric meter.
If that doesn’t work, call EWEB’s power outage hotline at (541) 484-2300.
To learn more about preparing for outages, coping with outages and how EWEB restores your power, go to the outage and safety section of this web site.
What if my water service is out?
Call EWEB’s water outage number at (541) 484-2400. If your pipes are broken or leaking, shut off the hand valve that should be located in the water meter box on your side of the water meter. For more information about coping with sub-freezing temperatures, visit the water savings section of our web site.
Why are some bills bigger than others?
Many factors contribute to the size of your EWEB bill, including our rates and your usage. Sometimes your meter won’t always be read at the same interval because of weekends and holidays. Your usage can vary greatly between billings, depending on weather conditions, the number of days between meter readings and your activities.
Generally, your electric usage will be noticeably higher in the winter months if you have electric heat. Your water usage will probably be higher during the summer when you irrigate your lawn and garden.
If you are interested in reviewing your water or electric consumption, simply request a “histogram” on the back of your bill. This will show your average daily water or electric use and how much it costs.
To get more information on ways to save on your water bill, call Water Management Services at (541) 484-4747 or visit the save water section of this web site. For information on electricity savings, call Energy Management Services at (541) 484-1125 or visit the save energy section of this web site.

of the utility’s renewable energy projects and
