Community education programs
The Eugene Water & Electric Board believes in the importance of educating today's
young people about energy and water resources. The utility works with local schools
to bring presentations and workshops about water and energy issues to the classroom.
In addition, EWEB provides grant funds to local schools each
year. The grants are used to fund programs focusing on water and energy resources.
For example, the Eugene 4J School District received a grant to develop a curriculum
focused on the Willamette and McKenzie watersheds. The project, "A Tale of Two Rivers,"
involves secondary students, affording them outdoor science lessons that would otherwise
likely go unfunded.
EWEB also provides energy and water education grants to
local non-profit organizations through the "Partners In Education" program. These
grants reach a wide audience from pre-school students to adults with creative learning
programs about energy and water resources.
