If your property is upstream of our drinking water intake, and your system hasn't been inspected or pumped out within the past three years, we will reimburse you for 50 percent of the cost for a septic system inspection and pump-out, if needed. Reimbursement doesn't cover the cost of additives to a septic system, digging to locate the septic tank or installing risers.
In addition, we will reimburse 50 percent of the cost of minor, necessary septic system repairs up to $300. Limited funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Note: This program is intended for watershed residents, not commercial businesses.)
You don't need to have a full septic system inspection, although both the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and EWEB strongly encourage it. We do require proof that the following items were evaluated and that the DEQ Existing System Evaluation Report (ESER) is submitted:
We require the use of a certified professional. Septic system installers and maintenance providers are able to provide septic system inspections. The DEQ has recently developed a Septic Smart webpage that contains a list of contractors who can provide inspections. However this list is not all-inclusive. If a septic contractor that you would like to use isn't on this list, please check the provider lists on the DEQ website. To receive reimbursement under the cost-share program, please submit a copy of your invoice and inspection report to:
