Record year for EWEBs business energy programs EWEBs business energy management programs produced a record-breaking year in 2001, totaling nearly 20 million kilowatt-hours of energy savingsthe most ever for any single year in EWEBs 23 year history of conservation activity. Combined with EWEBs residential energy management programs, the total conservation acquired from all participating customers was in excess of 30 million kilowatt-hours.
In total, EWEBs conservation investment over the last two decades now exceeds the annual output of EWEBs largest hydroelectric plant, the Carmen-Smith/Trail Bridge Project on the McKenzie River. To put the utilitys conservation programs into another perspective, it would have cost approximately $50 million if EWEB had to make wholesale spot market purchases for the equivalent amount of our 23 year conservation investment during the highest five months of last years energy crisis.
