Top stories Roosevelt complex aims for sustainability, wetlands protection EWEB's new operations center is being built at the southeast corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Beltline Road. This complex likely will be one of only a handful of facilities in Eugene with a "gold" or "silver" designation from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification program – the nation's most recognized standard for sustainability. When completed in 2010, it will protect or restore wetlands on the site. It also will be one of the first public facilities in Oregon to comply with a new state law requiring that at least 1.5 percent of the project costs be dedicated to solar energy measures. Other features include an "eco-machine" for processing sewage on site, treatment of stormwater on site, and reflective roofs and other features to maximize energy efficiency.
