Roosevelt Operations Center EWEB needs to build new facilities because the existing ones along the riverfront, adjacent to the headquarters, are worn out and are in need of replacement. Many of these buildings are at least 50 years old and have outlived their useful life. The new facility is expected to qualify for the “LEED Silver” standard of sustainability as measured by the U.S. Green Building Council. Download PIVOT Architecture's executive summary of the current design including sustainability features (large PDF file 6.0 MB). Portland-based Lease Crutcher Lewis is the Construction Manager/General Contractor for the project. Earthwork and site-preparation work is scheduled to begin in June, with construction of the operations, warehouse and vehicle shop buildings starting in early 2009. EWEB Commissioners established a project budget of $83.5 million for the facility. Commissioners and the Eugene City Council unanimously approved bonding authority for the project. The impact on the combined electric and water bill for the typical single-family home is about $52 a year, with the rate increases phased in over the next three or four years. Timetable
