Trees and safety

If you are pruning or removing a tree, be safe. Before you begin to trim a tree, look up first. If you see a power line in or near the tree you will be working on, call EWEB first at (541) (541) 484-2411 and ask for Tree Trimming. In all cases, avoid contact with power lines. You can be injured or killed.

Remember these important safety points:

  • Look up and live! Watch for overhead power lines when moving ladders or tools.
  • Need to prune or remove a tree? First, call EWEB at (541) (541) 484-2411 and ask for Tree Trimming.
  • Call before you dig. Ask the Oregon Utility Notification Center at 800-332-2344 to mark underground utilities.
  • Inspect your trees in the fall, before winter weather sweeps in. Survey them again after any hard wind, ice or snowstorm.
  • Don't let children play in trees near power lines. Even if a tree is not touching the lines, a child's weight on a branch can bring it into contact with live wires.
